Dandelions,,, the Happy Flower!

After yesterday's post, I remembered this little wall hanging I made for a Quilt Guild Challenge, several years ago. You had to make a small quilts, featuring flowers & it had to have a ladybug on it. Well, everyone did roses, carnations etc. There was a lot of pinks & reds. But not me, I just had to make Dandelions. I don't think I won any prizes, but I like it anyway. My Mom always said I was her non-conformer! The pattern was a BOM from Claudia's Quilts.

Quilters Flower Garden Quilt Top

It still needs the borders & I've been trying out different floral prints for that. This quilt is lap size, made with 12 blocks. I still plan on designing 4 more blocks & making another one that's queen size. But I running out of some of the fabrics I used in the Log Cabin frames around the flowers, so this ones as big as it's getting. I'm thinking of using Batiks for the next one!

Here's the floral print I'm debating on for the border. ?????

What a lazy day I've had.
I got all the animals fed & read a book,
did a few Internet Jig Saw Puzzle, & played a few computer games!

I'm thinking what I really need is another book & a Nap!

Quilter Flower Garden Block

Here's another block for my Quilters Flower Garden Quilt. " The Rose".

I drove up the the Fabric Deli Quilt Shop in North Fork Id today. Needed a little more green fabric for the Block Central BOM I'm starting & had a very peaceful drive. There's no cell phone service up there, so no one can find me!

Quilters Flower Garden Blocks

Here are a couple more blocks I'm working on. Instead of sashing I'm going to border each block with a log cabin & use a floral print "possibly" for a Border, if I can find one I like. My mother had a ton of florals in her fabric stash, which came to me. I'll have to look there first.

Paper Pieced Quilters Flower Garden

Isn't winter wonderful, not. We went from blizzard conditions to sun shine & cold to grey & over cast within a matter of hours. So I decided to hide out & think spring . I pulled up a file in EQ5 I started a couple of years ago. It's a sampler of Paper Pieced Flower blocks. This started as a BOM at the quilt shop I was working for at the time. I've designed 12 different blocks & I thinks I'll do 4 more so I'll end up with a Full/Queen quilt top. Here is the Blanket Flower block. Time to pull out all my flower colored scraps & get busy. Nothing feels more like spring than Flowers!!
