Not sure if it's Fall or Winter!

One day the top temp was in the low teens to 20's & 2 days later it's 40 to 60! We had a snowstorm just a few days ago... Defiantly the start of Quilting Season! If you look real close you can see the 3 horses huddling under the awning.

Here is another of my Mom's UFO's in progress. This one is going to my oldest daughter Shana. I'm hoping to have this one & the Plaid Hole in the Barn door quilt to the machine quilter soon. Then only 1 more to go. You can bet I'll be doing the biggest happy dance you've ever seen. That is if you could see it because I sure won't be taking pictures!! I'm making it a life time goal to either finish what I start or donate it to someone that will. I feel really good about finishing all Mom's quilts but I not passing my UFO's on to my kids. Now the unused fabric, thread & quilt books they will just have to deal with (:

This is a EQ version showing the borders & here are the blocks. It will finish just under 100".

And here is my niece Tiffany with her quilt!! This was the 1st of Mom's UFO's that I finished. Happy Fall

Perfect Sewing Weather

We've had rain, sleet, snow, wind, sunshine & back to rain so far today. The perfect sewing weather! I'm working on my Block Central BOM, trying to catch up. And in between sewing, I'm working on the 2009 family calender with pictures and all the birthday & anniversary info in it. I started this 5 years ago thinking it would remind the family of every ones special day. Well they still forget but I enjoy making the calenders & seeing my families picture throughout the year. And it makes a nice, easy & inexpensive gift for Christmas.
Last weekend we made our last trip to Idaho until next spring. We picked up the last of Dales tools & our new horse, Ritzy Future. She's a beautiful Black Missouri Fox Trotter. Here she is with her new friend Custer!

It's Snowing!

Here's old Joker, enjoying the snow!

And Max!

And Sadie

And why am I out here????? Because I was planning on talking pictures of the 2 quilts I finished. But it's snowing & the dogs are all excited & keep getting in the way. Come on Mom it's time to play!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Joker kept bumping my leg & Max was bouncing around like Tigger & Sadie, who just turned 2, still thinks she a "LITTLE" puppy that can fit between my legs! And where is the cat through all this, right were any sensible cat would be..............................

But I did get pictures of Firefly Quilt, label & all

It's was -26 at 7am! The dogs are mad because I shut the dog door. Every time they would use it the door would freeze open & it's in my bedroom!!!!! The cat is mad because he refuses to use a litter box & I put him outside to do his duty. I'm even hoping for snow as then it would warm up a little! In 4 yrs. when my husbands job here ends I'm heading for New Mexico as fast as I can pack!

Cold, Colder & Coldest, That's today's weather! We got 8" of snow on Sunday & cold & sunny today. It would be perfect quilting weather if I could just keep my feet warm! We had to be up & gone by 6:30 this morning, heading for Stanley Idaho. It was even to cold for the animals to be out.

I did get a little piecing done on Sunday. I've decided to make the Block Central BOM using some of my Christmas prints on hand. I did buy 3 yds. of background fabric. But am going to go semi scrappy with the blocks & use a really nice Hoffman Pinecone & holly xmas print from my stash for the border. So I'll pull the colors from that. Here is my version of block 1. The dk. green triangles are supposed to meet at the points. But mine did not cooperate so I turned the outside one around. What do ypou think of the colors?

Colddddddddd Today!

Boy, what a start for 2008. It was 10 below at 6am & the high today was 8. Why do I live here? Even the dogs stayed in most of the day. When I feed the horses I gave them a little extra hay to help them stay warm. Gave them a very quick pat & headed to the house as fast as I could! So how long do we have to wait for spring?
I sorted the strips for my grandsons quilt into 14 stacks for making the strip sets, & then I read in front of the fire until 3. Not a very productive day, but a relaxing one. As my husband works about 2 hours from home & works 12 hr days, he stays there 8 days & comes home for 6. So I don't even have to cook until Wednesday!!!!!! Hope you all had a wonderful New Years Day, now I think I'll go sew for awhile.........
